Program Preparation
91¶¶Òõ’s Certificate in English Studies is open to students of all majors who are interested in building skills in reading, writing, analysis, and critical thinking.
Degree Roadmap
The Certificate in English Studies consists of 32 credits:
- Two lower-division elective classes in literature, grammar, or rhetoric (four credits each). At least four of these credits must be from lower-division literature courses; four credits may be from grammar, rhetoric, or writing courses.
- Core Course: ENG 301, Introduction to Literary Analysis and Theory (four credits).
- Five upper-division English elective courses (four credits each).
Degree Integration
English faculty advisors are available to help you plan the best way to integrate this certificate into your major. Most students complete this certificate over two or three academic years, while working on their major in another subject area.
