The Conversational ASL micro-credential offers students the opportunity to develop essential communication skills in American Sign Language for meaningful real-world purposes. The course structure and communication goals are thematically organized to support students in learning ASL through immersive activities. Students will develop ASL proficiency along with a deeper understanding of the deaf community and their cultural perspectives through interactive learning activities.

Learning Outcomes/Competencies
Students who complete the Conversational ASL micro-credential will be able to:
- Develop essential communication skills in ASL for real-world purposes through immersive activities, hands-on projects, and communicatively purposeful tasks.
- Learn ASL thematically, focusing on communication goals that support skills for confident communication with ASL-speaking audiences outside of the classroom and with the deaf community.
- Develop a deeper understanding of the deaf community and their culture and perspectives through interactive learning activities with the community.
- Develop the ability to apply language learning strategies and techniques, including self-assessment and reflection, to improve ASL language proficiency and continue language development beyond the course.
